How to Become an Individual Volunteer
Get started by completing a short online application (individual or group). You can then attend a Gilda’s Volunteer 101 training session to learn more about the mission of Gilda’s Club, how we serve and communicate with our members (those impacted by cancer), tour our clubhouse, and the kinds of volunteer opportunities currently available. Visit our program calendar to register for an upcoming Volunteer 101 training session.

Child, Teen and Family Program Volunteer – Assist licensed mental health professionals in providing programming to children, teens and families (additional training required)
Clubhouse Maintenance/Handy-person – Assist with general, light maintenance projects throughout the clubhouse such as changing ceiling and wall light bulbs, fixing small mechanical issues, repairing minor damage or worn out items, etc. (weekly or monthly)
Fundraising Event Volunteer – Tasks will vary but may include; assist in planning event, acquiring necessary items, set up, registration, raffle ticket sales, swag handout, crowd control, clean up, follow up feedback, etc.
Greeter/Clubhouse Host – Welcoming face and voice of GCM, duties include assisting member check in, answering questions, directing to meeting rooms, maintaining the homey feel of the clubhouse through light tasks (weekly or bi-weekly, 6 month min. commitment)
Healthy Living Facilitator – Lead a workshop or activity you have an expertise in such as meditation, journal writing, sewing, nutrition, cooking, art, advocacy, etc. Proposals must be approved by Program Director in advance.
Outreach Volunteer – Represent GCM at health fairs and community events and/or deliver bi-monthly program calendar and event information to area hospitals and clinics
Professional Services Volunteer– Donate legal, public relations, technical, financial, program, medical, or other expertise to assist staff and board in operations and programming.
Social Event Volunteer – Help create community at Gilda’s Club through social events and activities that may include dinners, lunch-n-learns, entertainment, decorations, etc.
Associate Board – Young professionals using professional expertise, experience and networks to generate more awareness and financial growth for Gilda’s Club. (Meets monthly – 1 year commitment)
Building and Maintenance Committee – Provide guidance and insight on the upkeep and maintenance of the clubhouse quarterly. (Meets quarterly – 1 year commitment)
Development Committee – Seek out, identify, and cultivate new individual donors, event sponsors, and 3rd party events to financially sustain Gilda’s Club. (Meets every other month – 1 year commitment)
Diversity and Equity Committee – Share your expertise about how to connect with diverse and underserved communities. Personally support these efforts by participating in public outreach events. (Meets 3-5 times per year – 1 year commitment)
Governing Board – Participating on the Governing Board is a unique opportunity to engage with our mission, provide strategic guidance, and make a lasting impact for those facing cancer. Public Relations Committee – Grow community awareness of Gilda’s Club programs and fundraising events through expertise in marketing, media, design, etc. (Meets every other month – 1 year commitment)

Group Volunteering
To get started, complete our Group Volunteer Interest form. Our volunteer coordinator will contact you to discuss the volunteer opportunities best suited to your group and your group’s interests.

Deep Cleaning Crew – Ensure GCM is a clean, safe, welcoming environment for our members to feel at home in by bringing your group to clean/sanitize spaces.
Family Night Dinner Guest Cooks – Tuesdays 4-6:30pm come prepare a buffet style dinner for members attending Family Night Support Meetings. (4-6 people)
Gardening – Bring your green thumbs to beautify the gardens around GCM May-October.
Host an Activity/Social – Bingo, Karaoke, Dance Party, Game Night, any family friendly social your group wants to bring in for our members we want to hear about it.
Hold your own Fundraising Event – Jeans Day, Office Supply Drive, Gift Card Drive, Healthy Activity Challenge, Biking/Walking/Running/Kayaking etc. Event, Music Event, Motorcycle Ride, tell us your ideas.
Volunteer at a Fundraising Event – gather auction items, registration, crowd control, set up/clean up.
