A mom and her daughterGilda’s Club is an independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides social and emotional support to men, women and children living with cancer, as well as their friends and families. Gilda’s Club provides an opportunity to meet others facing cancer and learn how to live with cancer, whatever the outcome. We are an active affiliate of the Cancer Support Community.
LeanneWe are different from other cancer organizations because we are the only organization designed to meet the psychological and social needs of adults and children with any cancer diagnosis at any stage and their family/friends. All support groups are facilitated by a mental health professional. Funds raised here stay in our local community to directly support families facing cancer today. All programs are offered at no cost.
A coupleNew member meetings are offered at a variety of times each month. If the scheduled meeting times do not work for you or your family, you may call or email the clubhouse to schedule a 1-to-1 meeting with one of our caring program staff. Email program@gildasclubmadison.org to get started.

Gilda RadnerGilda’s Club is named in memory of comedian Gilda Radner, who died from ovarian cancer in 1989. Gilda is best known for her work on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. Her book, It’s Always Something, describes her life with cancer. Gilda once said that cancer gave her “membership to an elite club I’d rather not belong to,” which is where the name “Gilda’s Club” originated.
Two womenGilda's Club Madison currently offers programming in Middleton, Johnson Creek, and Dodgeville. Individuals and families from 30+ counties travel to our locations to participate in activities. If you live outside of our current service areas and are unable to travel, call the Cancer Support Community helpline at 888-793-9355 to learn about services available by phone and online.
Yes. Individual counseling is available on a short-term limited basis. As with all of our programming, there is no cost for this service.
A coupleTeam Convene and Family Focus are facilitated programs that bring together family and friends to strengthen support and enhance communication. The staff at Gilda’s Club will help you invite your support network to conduct either Family Focus or Team Convene at your convenience.
WheelchairAbsolutely not. Gilda's Club is based on respect for every person's way of living with cancer. We invite everyone impacted by cancer to "come as you are."
A manIndividuals, corporate sponsors, and foundations provide enormous direct and in-kind support for Gilda's Club. In addition, Gilda's Club Madison hosts special events to raise funds. All funds raised locally are used to benefit our local communities.
A faceYes, Gilda's Club Madison Wisconsin, Inc. is a nonprofit organization. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
A faceYes! Individual volunteers are asked to attend a Volunteer 101 gathering at 5:30 pm on the third Monday of each month or you may call 608-828-8880 to schedule an individual 101. Volunteer groups are asked to speak with our volunteer coordinator to help you find the best opportunity for your organization.
